2023年に「下北沢 想いやり展」に参加しました。
その作品を制作する傍ら、下北沢の街の景色と、私の好きな魚を融合させる試みが、もっと出来るんじゃないかと考えました。
下北沢を中心に活動するようになり、いろいろな方々にお世話になり、下北沢だからこそできる何かを作って、お世話になった方々に恩返しをしたくなった、というのもあります。
そこでまず思いついたのが、SHIMOKITA FISH 001 のanglerfish (チョウチンアンコウ）です。
下北沢で有名な「スズナリ横丁」の上に大きなチョウチンアンコウが口を開けて泳いでいたら…
想像しただけでワクワクします。
我々が普段よく見るチョウチンアンコウはメスで、オスはメスの体に寄生し、栄養をもらって生きているのだそうです。
暗い夜の街に、自分に寄生する男の生活を背負って、ひとり泳いでいるチョウチンアンコウ。
何を考えているのでしょうか？
ちょうど描いたのが春の初め。
春の夜を思いながら制作しました
In 2023, I participated in the "Shimokitazawa Souriaki Exhibition.
While creating that work, I thought that I could do more to try to fuse the scenery of Shimokitazawa with the fish that I love.
I have become active around Shimokitazawa and have been indebted to many people, and I wanted to return the favor to those people by creating something that could only be done in Shimokitazawa.
The first thing that came to mind was the anglerfish of SHIMOKITA FISH 001.
If a large anglerfish were swimming with its mouth open above Shimokitazawa's famous "Suzunari Yokocho"…
Just imagining it is exciting.
The anglerfish we usually see is a female, and the male is a parasite on the female's body, receiving nourishment to survive.
The anglerfish swims alone in the dark night, carrying the life of the male parasite on his back.
What is he thinking?
It was just the beginning of spring when I painted this.
I created this work while thinking of a spring night.
